AHEPA ATHENS CHAPTER 24

10/11/2022 Boston, MA District 8 September 11, 2022, the AHEPA Athens Chapter 24 – Boston, Chartered September 24, 1923 held its 1500th Chapter meeting at the Cathedral Center, Brookline, MA, presided by Brother Christopher J. Trakas, Chapter President.
Starting with a Colation buffet featuring skewers of gyro meats, delicious Greek salad, roasted potatoes, and a selection of beverages and ending with Greek pastries, baklava and koulourakia, all undertaken by the usual great efforts and direction of the Chapter Warden, Michael Condakes.
The General meeting was held with forty-one members in attendance. Past Presidents of AHEPA Athens Chapter 24 were invited to attend with a total of eleven present; Brothers George Gonis, George Niakaros, Peter A. Senopoulos, Michael G. T. Bakas, Michael Kalambokis, Louis J. Dakoyannis, Alex Geourntas, Constantine Calliontzis, Demetrios Vidalis, Christos G. Alex, and Christopher J Trakas. At the conclusion a presentation was made by Brother Peter Senopoulos, Esq. on the history of the founding of AHEPA Athens Chapter 24 Boston. Copies of an article written in the Hellenic Chronicle, Thursday, October 23, 1975 by Brother George Demeter, Esq. the first Athens Chapter President, and an article written in The AHEPA, Victory edition, published by THE Supreme Council of the AHEPA (page1 and page 4) were distributed to the brothers in attendance. Brother Peter Senopoulos is a relative of founding member Brother George Demeter, presented a detailed summation of George Demeter's rise in the AHEPA organization and the establishment of Boston Athens Chapter 24 and on the moving of the nationa AHEPA organization to the nations's capitol, Washington DC.
A second presentation was made by Brother Alex Geourntas, Secretary, AHEPA Board of Trustees. Brother Alex reviewed the process of obtaining a Proclamation by the Mayor of the City of Boston, Hon. Michelle Wu in honor of the 100th year Anniversary of the founding of the AHEPA Athens Chapter 24 Boston which is September 24, 2023. All the members stood for a group photograph and past presidents had their group photographs taken, with our oldest past presidident, George, Gonis our oldest living president. A grat historic moment for Boston Athens Chapter 24 for our 1500th meeting since our founding in 1923.
